We all are eagerly waiting for this beautiful day of Brothers and Sisters. Rakshabandhan also called Rakhi as the name suggests is a bond of protection or promise of protection and a very popular festival among Indians. Promise by brothers to protect their sisters whenever they need from all the harm that comes their way. Brother – Sister bond is always special, and Hindus all over the world will celebrate this Festival of brother and sister with sweets. Sisters will tie the Rakshabandhan on their brothers’ hands.

This year there is some confusion about the exact date of Rakshabandhan, some suggesting 11th of August and some suggesting 12th of August.

But do not worry we bring you the most accurate information on this and you can celebrate this beautiful festival with your brothers and sisters without worrying about the timing.

Every year Hindus celebrate this festival on Shukla paksha of Shravan month’s Purnima (Full moon) also called Shravan Purnima. This year a very unique or rare coincidence is happening and  Purnima(Full moon) tithi is falling on two days 11th and 12th of August, hence the confusion arising among Indians about the exact timinmg of Rakhi.

As per the many famous and eminent astrologers and pandits, Shukla Paksha will start from 10:38 am on 11th August and will last till 7:05 am on 12th August.  Many pandits are saying that Bhadrakaal is also starting on 11th August and according to them this is not a great day to celebrate. Legend has that once Suprnakha tied her brother Ravana rakhi on Bhadrakaal and Ravana lost his life and everything that year. Since then it is considered a very inauspicious day.

But they have missed a point that this year’s moon is in Kanya, Tula, Dhanu, and Makar Rashi. This means Bhadra will be living in  Patal Lok and hence there won’t be any negative effect if we celebrate the Rakhi on 11th August.

Here are two good Muharats on 11th August to celebrate Rakhi

  • 11th August,  11:37 am to 12:29 am – Abhijit Muharat
  • 11th August,  02:14 pm to 03:07 pm – Vijay Muharat.

Dear all brothers and sisters, do celebrate this beautiful festival with your siblings without any hesitation of Muharat now.
