Piyush Goyal is now Interim Finance Minister , Arun Jaitely is in USA for medical reasons

Indian Railway & Coal Minister Mr. Piyush Goyal has been given additional responsibility of Finance Ministry in the absence of Mr. Arun Jaitley. Mr. Jaitely is in USA for his treatment, he had successful kidney transplant operation last year. Mr. Jaitely who might not be coming back to India anytime soon , and in his absence Prime Minister Modi has shown trust on Mr. Goyal again to take the charge of one of the most important ministry of India, last time he held the same position for 100 days from may through August when Mr. Jaitely had undergone kidney operation. Not only that Mr. Goyal most likely to announce budget this time, which will make him first CA (chartered accountant) in the history of India to present budget (interim). Mr. Arun Jaitley who went to USA last week was expected to return back from USA before budget but this new announcement has surprised many. Interim budget is to be presented on 1st of February 2019. This is the second time Mr. Goyal is handling the additional charge of finance ministry.

Mr. Goyal who has completed his schooling from Don Bosco, B.Com and LLB from Mumbai. He is also a renowned Chartered Accountant. Though it is a temporary arrangement but Mr. Goyal could be the our new future Finance Minister, may be after 2019. He is very well qualified to do the job and he has delivered when he was given the additional charge last year in May, apart from that he was one of the hard working minister of Modi cabinet. He also held the portfolio of power minister where he was praised by people for his commendable job. PM Modi had himself praised him on several occasions. Meanwhile Mr. Jaitely will remain as Minister without portfolio.

On the other aspect, this could be morale boosting news for the CA aspirants, because seeing someone, who was one of them at one point, to reach that level is very motivating. He is a renowned chartered accountant and now he is going to present the budget ( most likely) for the very first time .

As this is the last budget before 2019 election PM Narendra Modi has shown his trust on Mr. Goyal , but does it means little more ? does it reflects many things especially for future?.

Whatever it is but right now Mr. Goyal has big responsibility to fulfill as people of India looking upto him and eagerly waiting for him to announce budget expecting some relief from him. Being a chartered accountant he possess good knowledge about numbers and economy is all about numbers.

The President of India, as advised by the Prime Minister, hereby directed that during the period of indisposition of Shri Arun Jaitley, Minister; the portfolios of Minister of Finance and Minister of Corporate Affairs held by him, be temporarily assigned to Shri Piyush Goyal, in addition to his existing portfolios.

Further, as advised by the Prime Minister, Shri Arun Jaitley be designated as Minister without portfolio during the period of his indisposition or till such time he is able to resume his work as Minister of Finance and Minister of Corporate Affairs.

We wish Mr. Goyal very best and wish Mr. Jaitely a speedy recovery.
